eSIM for USA Travel: An eSIM Industry Insider's Guide (2026)

Hello, I'm Dylan. A guy working at esimNB.

esimNB is an online travel eSIM store. My job is to help customers fix problems when they install and set up their eSIM. I also write the help guides for esimNB. Through talking with customers, I have learned a lot about what causes eSIMs to stop working, and how to tell the difference between a good eSIM and a bad one.

Most customers do not know how to judge whether an eSIM is good or not. Many eSIM sellers even hide some of the key details about their eSIMs. So you cannot just look at the price and assume it will work well.

If you are going to travel to the USA and want a good internet experience with an eSIM, this guide will share the USA eSIM providers I think are worth trying. esimNB is the one I would suggest first for most travelers. You do not have to just take my word for it. I will also share my tips and tricks so you can pick the best USA eSIM for yourself.

That said, if what I say makes sense to you, I hope you will give esimNB a try.

Notice: This post includes recommendations for both our own brand and other brands. We do not work with any partner marketing programs, so we do not get paid to promote anyone. Everything here is my own opinion. It may not be perfect, and I will keep updating it over time.

Good Things about Using an eSIM

The biggest thing I notice about eSIMs is that I no longer have to deal with the old way of switching SIM cards. Before, you had to find the little SIM pin, pop out the tray, line up the card just right, and then hope it did not fall on the floor.

And the worst part was not even that. The worst part was when the SIM pin was nowhere to be found. Who keeps a SIM pin on them all the time? I used to look around for a toothpick or a pen to get the job done.

The whole thing was such a pain.

On a phone, you can install several eSIMs at one time. This is great for people who travel to different countries. In the old days, one phone could only hold 2 SIM cards. Now with eSIM, you can go up to 8, and use 2 at the same time. When I need to switch, I just go into my phone settings and change it. Easy.

I used to have a giffgaff SIM card as a backup. Since I did not use it much, I would put it somewhere safe, and then forget where that was. When I finally needed it, I would have to search the whole house. Now I have moved that card to eSIM. When I need it, I just go into settings and turn it on.

If you are using a USA eSIM, you can install it before you even leave home. When you land in the USA, it is ready to go. When you are done, just turn it off in your phone settings.

No more SIM pins, toothpicks, or pens!

Cook and future Apple CEOs should really push eSIM more, because it is better for the planet too.

Which USA Telecom Networks Are Best for Travelers?

T-Mobile and Verizon together are the best pair for a USA eSIM.

The USA has three big phone networks: T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T.

T-Mobile has the widest 5G coverage in the whole country. Based on Speedtest (Ookla) data from the second half of 2025, T-Mobile leads the country in key speed results. Its middle download speed across all networks reached 259.48 Mbps. On 5G, it hit 309.41 Mbps, the fastest of the three big networks. Its 5G reach is also the highest, with users on 5G more than 91% of the time.

If you are spending most of your time in big cities like New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago, T-Mobile is your best pick.

Verizon is the strongest in rural areas and national parks. Based on RootMetrics testing across all 50 states and 125 major cities, with over 3 million tests, Verizon won the award for "Best Overall Network" in the second half of 2025. It also ranked at the top for network reliability and best 5G experience.

If you plan to take road trips, visit national parks like Yellowstone or Yosemite, or go out into the countryside, Verizon will give you the most stable coverage.

AT&T is a solid middle choice, but when picking a USA eSIM, it is better to look for a plan that supports two networks at once (ideally T-Mobile and Verizon together). That way, if one signal is weak, your phone can switch to the other.

Even if you ask AI tools like ChatGPT or Gemini which two networks they would pick for a USA eSIM, they will tell you to go with T-Mobile and Verizon.

What Is the Best eSIM for the USA?

My short answer: esimNB is the best USA eSIM provider for most travelers.

From my work in the eSIM industry, there are 3 things you can use to judge a travel eSIM.

  1. Which phone networks and IP routing the eSIM supports
  2. The price of the eSIM
  3. Other services from the provider (customer support, website or app experience, etc.)

Once you rank these by how much they matter to you, you can find the best USA eSIM for your needs.

Everyone cares about different things, so here is my own ranking, which I think works for most travelers:

Networks and IP routing supported by the eSIM > eSIM price > other services from the provider

Based on this ranking, I think esimNB is a strong choice. It offers great value for most travelers.

I did the research before saying this. I looked at dozens of eSIM providers including Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, Ubigi, Jetpack, Maya, Yesim, and more. I compared their networks, prices, and services. After looking at everything together, esimNB came out on top for value.

That said, if you care more about the extra services a provider offers, like a nice app, and price is not a big worry for you, then esimNB may not be the right fit. A more established provider like Airalo might be better for you.

Why esimNB Is a Great Choice for Most Travelers

Going back to the formula: Networks and IP routing > eSIM price > other services

Let us look at each one.

1. Networks and IP Routing Supported by the USA eSIM

The speed and stability of your internet connection depends on which phone networks and IP routing the eSIM uses. We have put a lot of work into this.

We offer different plans for different needs: a USA local IP routing plan and a Hong Kong IP routing plan.

The USA local IP plan has very low delay, more stable connections, and will not have the issue where the eSIM is turned on but still does not work. It also works better with US bank apps and US-based AI tools and services that may block non-US IPs.

The regular plans use Hong Kong IP, which has a slightly higher delay, but still works fine for everyday use. They cannot access ChatGPT or TikTok, but the price is more budget-friendly.

We offer both types to meet different needs. If you are traveling for work, you use a lot of tech tools, or you need to use US apps a lot, the USA local IP routing plan is the one to pick. It feels the most like being a local, and you will not run into problems with security checks.

If you are going to the USA mainly for fun, your budget is tight, and you are okay with a little delay, the regular plan is a good fit.

The regular plan supports the two best US networks, T-Mobile and Verizon, and it supports 5G speeds. In real life, the experience is excellent.

The USA IP plan supports AT&T and Verizon, also with 5G speeds.

Here is a summary of the networks supported by other USA eSIM providers. Providers may change their support from time to time. This is the latest data as of May 2026.

2. eSIM Price

Here is a simple price comparison.

Provider10GB Price (USD)
esimNB$13.50
Airalo$23.00
Yesim$16.80
Maya$15.99
Nomad$19.00
Ubigi$14.00

We keep our prices low and rely on a high number of sales. Our goal is to give customers a better eSIM plan at a lower cost. We hope to keep doing this for a long time.

3. Extra Services

This is where esimNB is weaker. esimNB does not offer an unlimited data plan yet, and we have not released an app yet. Right now, you can only buy and manage your eSIM through the website.

You can still check your eSIM setup and usage on the website. The eSIM also supports hotspot sharing, data top-ups, and other useful features.

esimNB Customer Support

Our support channels are WhatsApp and email only. We do not have live chat, so we cannot always reply right away. During daytime hours in Asia, we usually reply within a few minutes. At night or early morning, it may take a few hours.

I handle all customer support at esimNB. Any question about eSIM, whether it is about installing, setting up, not working, or getting a refund, feel free to reach out to me.

My personal email is: taosirdyt@gmail.com. You can also reach us at: hello@esimnb.com

If you are having trouble installing or setting up your eSIM, please check the help guides first: Link

If you installed the eSIM but it still does not work, here is what fixes the problem most of the time:

  1. Make sure you have set the eSIM to use mobile data
  2. Make sure you have turned on data roaming for the eSIM (do not worry, this does not cost extra)
  3. Restart your phone

If it still does not work, the signal in your area may be weak. Check the signal bars in the top right corner of your phone. Try going outside or to an open area where the signal is better.

In rare cases, the eSIM may not work due to a bad connection during setup, or a problem with the eSIM itself. If this happens, try deleting the eSIM and scanning the QR code again. Or email me and I will send you a new eSIM right away.

Finally, esimNB offers a no-questions-asked refund. If your eSIM does not work or the experience is very poor, and you have already tried the steps on our checklist (or you just want a refund and do not want to bother with the steps), contact me at taosirdyt@gmail.com. I will refund you with no questions asked. Refunds are processed within one business day, and the money should reach your account within 2 to 5 business days, depending on your bank.

To sum it up, I believe esimNB is a high-value eSIM provider that works well for most travelers.

How to Pick the Right USA eSIM for Your Trip

There are three things to look at when judging a USA eSIM. First is the phone networks and IP routing it supports. Second is the price. Third is the extra services the provider offers, like app experience and customer support.

Some people care more about price. Some people care more about service. It is up to you.

For me, my ranking is: networks and IP routing supported by the eSIM > eSIM price > other services from the provider

This works for most people. It means: first, make sure the eSIM lets you browse the internet smoothly, and then, look for a lower price.

So to sum it up, here are the key points:

  1. The eSIM should support at least 2 networks. The best combo is T-Mobile and Verizon.
  2. A fair price for a 10GB plan is between $14 and $19. Anything above $19 is a bit high.
  3. The eSIM provider should support hotspot sharing, data top-ups, and let you check your data usage online.

Other Reliable USA eSIM Alternatives

If you want to try a provider other than esimNB, here are 2 I would suggest. Both are well-established providers that you can trust.

1. Holafly

Holafly supports AT&T and T-Mobile. T-Mobile has the widest coverage in the USA. The only thing is that Holafly only sells unlimited data plans, but the overall experience is still very good. The price is $3.9 per day.

2. Airalo

Airalo supports T-Mobile and Verizon, just like esimNB. The price is higher though: $23 for a 10GB plan. But Airalo is a very mature and stable provider. Everything works well, and it is a good fit for users who do not mind paying more.
