After activating your eSIM using a QR code or manual activation code, you may encounter the following error message:

Cellular Plans From This Carrier Cannot Be Added

This message typically indicates that your device is carrier-locked, meaning it cannot install eSIM plans from carriers other than the one that originally sold the device.


How to Check if Your Device Is Carrier-Locked

You can verify your device lock status by following these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap About
  4. Look for the field Carrier Lock

You should see:

  • No SIM restrictions → Your device is unlocked
  • Any other message → Your device is locked

If the device is locked, it will block eSIM activation from third-party carriers.


Solutions

To resolve this issue, please contact your mobile carrier and request that they unlock the device. In most cases, the unlock can be completed remotely (over-the-air) through the carrier’s Customer Service hotline or live chat.

Once the device is successfully unlocked, you can return to your eSIM activation process and install the plan without issues.
